You can get involved in iPed in several ways: We offer conference bursaries and practical research support, as well as seminars and workshops.
The Reading Groups are a community of practice. Members support each other in their efforts to engage in pedagogical research, with the longer-term aim of increasing publications output.
These are residential retreats held away from the University providing a supported environment for individuals to focus on their academic writing for publication.
Writing groups are also available.
See our events pages for more details of upcoming courses and workshops.
iPED Seminars and "Inquiring with the Experts" Seminars
Open to internal university staff and external participants these seminars have been developed to share learning and teaching practice ideas and research. "Inquiring with the Experts" is an opportunity to meet central figures who are having an influence on higher education policy and practice and to spend time debating their ideas.
CSHE Lunchtime Seminars
Regular research seminars are held on Friday lunchtimes in CSHE and provide a forum for networking and discussion pedagogic research. Invited speakers, both internal and external, give a lead presentation that is then opened up for discussion amongst the audience.
iPED is now providing support for colleagues across the University to attend Pedagogic Research conferences. Five conference bursaries up to the value of £700 are available to support conference registration fees, accommodation and travel. Costs in excess of this would have to be covered by the home faculty. A requirement is an oral presentation at the conference and that the presentation is presented as part of the iPED lunchtime seminar series.
For further information on conference bursaries, contact Andrew Turner.
Personal support and advice support for pedagogical research through the iPed Core Team.
A network of experienced mentors provides support for staff with their research and publishing.
The emphasis is on practical guides for beginners and for those who are in the process of selecting research and analytical techniques to address their particular research aims and objectives. It is intended that this area will grow and develop with the needs and requirements of ourselves and our partners. While many of the techniques and tools are general to the human sciences, and can be deployed under more than one research or evaluation paradigm, we have for your convenience organised them under two gateways:
Research methods
Evaluation techniques
iPED organises and hosts an annual international conference in September with a focus on Pedagogical Research.
