About iPED

The Inquiring Pedagogies (iPED) Research Network is a major Coventry University initiative, supporting colleagues at Coventry University and beyond who undertake research into teaching and learning, offering an encouraging environment in which critical inquiry can take place and facilitating a research community. Our main areas of interest fall under CSHE's general Research Themes.

iPED has a particular focus on the development and evaluation of curricula that emphasise inquiry. Additionally, iPED offers support at all levels for those who would like to develop their own understanding and practice through pedagogic inquiry. iPED is supported by a team of three research fellows, a coordinator and a research assistant.

GET INVOLVED  is the practical and collegiate support iPED offers to colleagues engaged in, or who would like to engage in, educational research.

NEWS:

iPED Research Network invited to Guest Edit International Journal of Web Based Communities: http://www.inderscience.com/ijwbc

Special Issue: “Web Based Research Networks and Learning Communities”

Web Based Research Networks (WBRNs) provide advantages of anytime anyplace participation by traditional researchers and their informants whilst potentially harnessing rich contributions from the wider public. Web Based Learning Communities (WBLCs) similarly bring together dispersed individuals by means of suitable technology to develop their vocational and/or academic understanding collaboratively.  This Special Issue of The International Journal of Web Based Communities (IJWBC) features well-researched contributions building upon the current literature of successful, failing and adaptive WBRNs and WBLCs. The aim of the special issue is to identify not so much the technology, but the pedagogies, management models and modus operandi which have demonstrable potential to enhance the future of such communities.

The IJWBC-iPED editorial experience will itself provide a case-study in WBRN activity in the evolving global research context.

The Submission deadline has now passed. Publication is planned for later in 2009.

Project Coordinator: Virginia King: csx071@coventry.ac.uk or info.iped@coventry.ac.uk
