Research Students: Special Requirements for Overseas Students

Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

If you intend to study for PGR degrees in engineering and science or related disciplines and you are a citizen of a country outside the United Kingdom or the European Union then you will have to apply for clearance through Academic Technology Approval System (ATAS) before applying for a visa. Your offer letter will provide you with a JACS code and a brief description of the programme of study with an indication about whether you need to apply through ATAS.

Visa

If you are a citizen of a country outside the United Kingdom or the European Union then you probably need to obtain a student visa before you leave your country. Please note that this can be quite a time-consuming process especially if you intend to join at the busier periods of the year.

Can anyone at Coventry University advise me on ATAS or visa requirements?

Academic and administrative staff are not allowed to give advice on ATAS or visa applications or requirements.  The rules are complex and change often.  We do, however, have specialist advisers in the International Office.

Research Split-site Degrees

Research Split-site degrees are only available to overseas students.
