My current project is investigating the differences in attentional bias between nicotine dependent and non-dependent smokers. These non-dependent smokers do not appear to experience withdrawal effects due to a lack of nicotine dependence, but find it as hard to quit smoking as heavy, dependent smokers. Attentional bias is the automatic allocation of attention to particular stimuli and it related to experiencing craving. I am exploring attentional bias to see if it can contribute towards the difficulty in quitting for these light, non-dependent smokers.
My research interests include;
I graduated with a BSc in Psychology from Coventry University in 2015, and I am currently completing a Masters by Research in psychology. I have been a research assistant on various staff research projects throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Since October 2015, I have also been an hourly paid lecturer at Coventry University: teaching on modules such as sciences of the mind, and quantitative research methods.
