Study with Us

The Centre for Mobility and Transport integrates multi-disciplinary topics in Design, Safety, Autonomy and Low Carbon Propulsion providing the ideal opportunity to shape future transport solutions that address the global socio-technical challenges we face. As such we offer a vibrant and inclusive culture within which to study.

Our diverse and growing PhD student community plays an integral role in supporting and contributing to the Centre’s research impact objectives including our extensive industrial engagement programmes such as our Doctoral centre with Horiba MIRA (http://www.coventry.ac.uk/research/research-directories/research-news/2015/horiba-mira-collaboration-with-coventry-university/) and the recently announced National Transport Design Centre.

Current research is grouped around the following key topics; Human Factors and User Behaviour, Cyber Security, Vehicle Dynamics and Safety, Control Theory, Human Systems Integration and Low Carbon Powertrain Technologies, while taking into account policy and regulatory issues. It is multi-modal, spanning Road, Rail, Aerospace and Marine.

We offer a challenging and supportive environment for you to invest in your future. Please explore the Centre’s pages and find out about the innovative research that is being undertaken by our staff, work that is not only cutting-edge but contributing to the important issues of Safety, Efficiency and Accessibility confronting mobility and transport now and in the future.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified self-funded or sponsored PhD candidates that relate to our current research themes. If you think you have what it takes to study for a PhD with us please review the projects on offer and contact the relevant member of staff in the first instance for an informal discussion.
