Guy is responsible for the strategic leadership of health and life sciences across the University Group. He has extensive experience of leading and managing in higher education.

Guy is a non-executive director of Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust and a member of the West Midlands Clinical Senate. He represents the University on the Coventry Health and Wellbeing Board and Public Services Board. He is a trustee of both Research in Specialist and Elderly Care (RESEC) and the Human City Institute (HCI). He is also a member of the Executive of the Council of Deans of Health where he is responsible for the international portfolio. 

His research concerns social care, housing policy, local government, and the governance of public services. He is an active member of the Social Policy Association and the Social Services Research Group. He is joint editor of the journal Research Policy and Planning.
