KARMAH CoP (Community of Practice)

The nature of Knowledge Management is such that a blend of key skills is required to achieve true progress in this rapidly evolving area. The KARMAH subgroup has interests in most aspects of contemporary clinical and healthcare knowledge management.

The subgroup has devised a schematic (Fig 1) in order to depict its strategy for the immediate future. The KARMAH starwheel shows how partners and associate members - with particular expertise - can bring key ideas to a central repository (the centre of the star) from which other members can draw/amend/add before returning back to the centre for final refinement. At the same time, members are free to interact by moving directly across the wheel.

It is envisaged that this will lead to an increased and rapid level of publication and/or collaborative projects for all active partners concerned.

Through its invited membership, the subgroup is able to offer academic and consultancy expertise in the following areas:

ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR: including change management, strategy, ICTs, clinical governance etc CLINICAL INFORMATICS AND ENGINEERING: including AI, cybernetics, expert systems etc EDUCATION AND TRAINING: including HRM, work study, industry-academic interfaces PRIVACY AND SECURITY: including technical, legal, ethical and organisational aspects etc DATA MINING: including algorithms, knowledge discovery, genomic mining etc
