BOAST

The British Online Association of Stats Teachers

BOAST is an online forum provided by the Royal Statistical Society for teachers in its Associated Schools and Colleges.  Membership of this scheme is open to all schools and colleges in the United Kingdom providing education in the 5-19 age range.  Further details are provided below.

BOAST Facilities

• Discussion Forum - discuss issues with fellow members
• Resources - area for resources to be shared with other BOAST members
• Links - hyperlinks to other sites of interest
• Personal Mail - communicate privately with other members of BOAST by email
• Surveys - contribute to regular RSS consultations on statistical education matters
• Calendar - available to all BOAST members to publicise events
• On-line Help - help on using the Learn Online system that hosts BOAST

Associate Schools/Colleges

The Society takes an active interest in the teaching of statistics at all levels, and sponsors the RSS Centre for Statistical Education, based at Nottingham Trent University.

Educational institutions are invited to apply for Associate School/College membership of the Society. Current rates are £25 per year for Primary and Middle schools, and £30 per year for Secondary schools, Sixth Form and Further Education colleges. For this membership fee, the institution will receive

• RSS NEWS
• a free subscription to the journal Teaching Statistics
• materials helpful for the teaching of statistics
• reduced fees for all RSS conferences and workshops.
