Frequently Asked Questions
I. Submission System Related
1.
Why do I need sign up before submission?
We use
an electronic submission system to manage the submissions of
abstracts, full papers, reviews, and notification/feedback to authors.
Once
an author signs up an account in the submission system, the author can
-
submit the abstract, change the submission any time before the
submission is closed;
-
submit the full paper associated with the abstract submitted before;
-
change the submission any time before the submission is closed;
-
directly manage the re-submission of the same paper by replacing a
previous submission;
- read
the review reports once they are made available.
2.
Will my personal information (email) be sold and then receive many
junk emails, if I sign up to the submission system?
No.
The entire code of the submission system is running in the server of
the Software Research Lab at the Arizona State University. No other
companies have the access to the system.
3.
What is the purpose of submitting an abstract?
It
will be used for assigning reviewers. If you submit an abstract that
properly reflect your paper content, your paper will have a better
chance to be reviewed by a reviewers that understand your paper
better.
4. Can
we submit a full paper if we did not submit an abstract?
Yes,
you can submit a full paper and the abstract at the same time. The
abstracts help the organizers to estimate the number of papers to be
submitted and to plan the review allocation.
5. Can
I submit multiple papers in a single login account?
Yes.
6. Do
I have to follow certain format for my submission?
We
recommend you use the IEEE conference proceedings format. A sample and
the formatting instruction can be found at
http://www.ieee.org/portal/cms_docs/pubs/confpubcenter/pdfs/samplems.pdf
7.
What file format I should use to submit the papers:
For
abstract: Please copy and paste pure text into the window for the
abstract in the submission system.
For
full paper: We commend PDF format. We can also handle MS WORD files.
8. I cannot get connected to the submission system,
what can I do?
With the submission deadline approaching, the server
will get busier and busier. Here are a few advices and solutions:
1) Try to use the direct IP address:
http://149.169.227.208/ICEBE2006/index.php
which will bypass the name server and directly connect to the
submission system.
2) Do
not try to submit the paper in the last few hours before the deadline,
it will get really slow. Try to submit once your paper is done. You
can always re-submit if you made revision.
3)
Have your abstract and other required fields submitted before you
submit your full paper.
4) Try
to connect to the server in off peak time.
5) If
all methods have failed, as the last solution, you can email your
login name, password (for the submission system), and the full paper
in PDF to
xinyu.zhou@asu.edu. He
can help you to upload the paper into your account. To take this
option, you must have your abstract submitted and other required
fields (such as track, type of paper, topics of the paper) completed.
II. Review and acceptance
9. How many papers are received?
336 papers reviewed.
10. What is the acceptance rate?
20% accepted as long paper
11. What are the differences between long papers and short papers?
The only difference is the maximum page no for the publication.
12. What is the review process?
We have adopted a two-phase review
process: Pre-screening and full review (the same process was adopted
last year). A committee, consisting of Program Chair, Co-Chairs, and
Conference Vice-Chairs is formed to do the pre-screening. Papers were
screened based on four criteria: fit within scope of the conference,
readability, length, and diversity (academic papers vs. industry
papers). All the papers were read and commented by the organizing
committee. On April 28th the committee held an evaluation meeting to
decide which papers would be selected for further review. All 336
papers were evaluated individually and 197 papers were selected for
the second round of reviews. We apologize that we are unable to
provide details review for those papers did not pass the pre-screening
process, due to the amount of papers we have received. For the papers
entered into the second round of review, three reviewers are assigned
and. Each paper has at least two or more reports entered into the
submission system by the PC members.
13. How can I find my review reports?
The comments can be found in the paper submission. To see the
comments, please login the submission system at:
http://149.169.227.208/ICEBE2006/.
After you logged in, please click the link under column called
"Status". Then you will see the comments.
14. Will Proceeding of ICEBE 2006 be included in EI?
According to the most recent IEEE News Letter,
all IEEE conference publications will be submitted to EI. You
can find more information from the followings.
http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_indexing.html
Indexing Services
Conference publications published by the IEEE Computer Society's
Conference Publishing Services (CPS) are professionally indexed
through INSPEC®. Produced by the IET1, INSPEC is the leading
English-language bibliographic information service providing access to
the world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical
engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering,
computers and computing, and information technology. If interested,
you can learn more about INSPEC at http://www.iee.org/publish/inspec/
All CPS conference publications are also submitted for indexing to
EI's Engineering Information Index, Compendex®, (Elsevier http://www.ei.org/),
and ISI Thomson's Scientific and Technical Proceedings®, ISTP®/ISI
Proceedings, and Current Contents on Diskette® (ISI Thomson http://www.isinet.com/).
IEEE conference publications are not currently indexed in ISI
Thomson's Science Citation Index (SCI), a journal index, nor are they
cited in ISI Thomson's Journal Citation Report (JSR).
IEEE conference publications may also be indexed into specialized
indexing services based on their content topic.
All abstract and indexing services are operated by independent
companies and the IEEE has no control over their editorial practices
and policies.
1 IET is the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a new
institution formed by the joining together of two great institutions:
the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) and the IIE (The
Institution of Incorporated Engineers). This new institution is the
inheritor of the INSPEC brand and all products and services.
III. Submit to IEEE publication
15.
How to resubmit the paper if you have a revised one after the
submission?
You should finalize your papers
before uploading to the IEEE submission site. In the extreme case that
you absolutely need to resubmit your paper after you have submitted,
you should follow the following process:
Name your new version using the same file named AND
appending the word _revised_n
For example, if the file name is
SmithJohn_Webservice, the new name should be
SmithJohn_Webservice_revised_1. If you need to made another change
(which is strongly discouraged), you can use name
SmithJohn_Webservice_revised_2.
