Hypothesis Testing

The workbook begins by looking at the traditional problem of tossing a coin to see if it is fair. This is used to introduce the important ideas of statistical significance, Type I and Type II errors, and the power of a test.

The spreadsheet shown is designed to help students gain a better understanding of the concepts of significance and the power of a test when testing a population mean. The numbers in blue can be changed to see what happens.

The final spreadsheet shows the calculations involved in a chi-squared test of association, explained using a two way contingency table.
