Dobrila Petrovic received the degrees of BSc and MSc from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, both in Mathematics/Computer Science, and the PhD in Engineering, from the University of Warwick, UK.

She is a lecturer at Coventry University, School of Mathematical and Information Sciences. Prior to this appointment she worked as a Senior Researcher in Mihajlo Pupin Institute, (an R&D institute), Laboratory for Automation, in Belgrade, for 11 years. Dobrila Petrovic was selected for and actively participated in the European Operations Research Summer Institute, Madeira, Portugal, 1989, devoted to the study of Decision Support Systems. She was awarded a Visiting Research Fellowship in the Department of Engineering, University of Warwick, on two occasions.

Her main research interest is in the area of modelling and treating uncertainty using, in particular, fuzzy sets theory, and the application of artificial intelligence techniques in various domains, such as logistics, supply chain management and control, inventory control, reliability and maintenance, medical diagnosis and prognosis. She has developed a number of software packages in relation to decision support systems, expert systems, and simulation programs. Dobrila Petrovic has published over 10 papers in distinguished scientific journals, including the European Journal of Operational Research, the International Journal of Production Economics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems. She has also presented over 20 papers which have been published in the proceedings of international conferences.
