Alison
Todman is a Senior Lecturer at the
School of Mathematical and Information
Sciences, Coventry University, UK.
Her main research interests relate
to the computational modelling of low-level
visual processes in the brain and the
application of perceptually-based mechanisms
to the analysis of medical images.
Previous work, carried out at The University
of Birmingham, UK, investigated the
potential of applying computational
models of perceptual closure to the
segmentation of cell boundaries in
images of striated muscle tissue. Current
work focuses on feature extraction
processes in the visual cortex and
the development of metrics based on
human perception for use in quantitative
histopathology.
