Creative Technologies Foundation year
The foundation year is designed to provide you with the required background for studying any one of the Creative Technology programmes. The foundation year is appropriate for you if you;
- have been out of formal education for some time
- do not have the standard entry qualifications
- reside outside the UK
- have completed only twelve years of school education before applying to University.
Reasons to choose Creative Technologies Foundation year
If you pass your foundation year you will be expected to continue on the next stage of the BA Multimedia Computing or BSc Digital Media Production courses.
Entry requirements
You will be required to have the following qualifications to study on this course:
- GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade A-D or equivalent
- 100 Tariff points from one or more 6-unit award or equivalent qualifications
Course content
During the foundation year you will recieve an introduction to all the main subjects that underpin the study of creative computing at degree level.
In the introduction to computing you will cover the basic ideas of programming , information systems, website development and computer architecture. This is supported by studies in information technology, quantitative methods and business context.
You will also cover study and communications skills and, if your first language is not English, there will be classes to help you to develop your use of the English for acaedemic purposes. If you perform well you will recieve credits towards your next year's programme.
