Computing MSc degree (part time course)
Most of our courses require you to take and pass a specific set of modules. However, if you feel that you would like to make your own choice from what is on offer, you can choose the MSc Computing. The only constraint is that you include two core modules in either information systems, software development, or network computing, together with the research methods module, in your programme. The other seven modules can be chosen from all those available at postgraduate level in the School, subject to you having the prerequisite knowledge to study them. You can use them to construct a course that meets your own requirements. You will also undertake a practical or a research-based project which can be linked to a real client or to one of the research groups in the School.
This course would suit students who have specific requirements or interests (perhaps related to their employment experience) which do not directly fit one of our other courses. The Computing course may also suit students who decide they do not want to specialise but would prefer a more general course.

The School offers a full range of computing services to support the courses. We have well-equipped, up-to-date computer laboratories offering Linux, Windows 2000, CISCO networking, wireless LAN, multimedia authoring packages, web-site development tools, and specialist workstation environments. All students have full internet access and e-mail facilities.
Our students are provided with lecture notes, exercises, case studies and information about helpful websites through our School intranet and our electronic learning support environment, WebCT. Forums are available for students on each course module to interact with one another and work together as virtual groups.
A new Learning Resources Centre provides access to on-line databases, an audio-visual collection, a multimedia CD-ROM collection and is located close to the School.
We offer a stimulating and exciting environment in which you will be able to develop new knowledge and skills.
The School is located in its own modern building adjacent to the Computing Services Centre. The building includes over thirty teaching/research laboratories equipped with modern computers and workstations for the development and use of multimedia, networks, databases, expert systems, CASE, programming language, and web-development. tools.
