Engineering Management MBA/PgDip degree (part time course)
This course prepares participants for eventual senior management roles in a Manufacturing or Engineering organisation, by ensuring that they acquire a firm understanding of the major areas of knowledge, which underpin general management, whilst stressing the integration of the different strands of management within a broad strategic overview.
Postgraduate engineering courses have also been developed jointly between MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, India and Coventry University. The curriculum has been developed as per Coventry University rules and regulations and complies with QAA standards. Coventry University confers the MBA Engineering Management degree to successful candidates. MSRSAS also conducts PhD degrees with Coventry University. The research programme is in the areas of mechanical, electronics and engineering related management.
The course aims are:
- To develop a firm understanding of the concepts, processes and institutions in the production and marketing of goods and services and the financing of business enterprise or other forms of organisation.
- To understand and assess the impact of environmental forces; such as legal systems, ethical, social, economic, technological change and international events, on organisations and their strategy.
- To be able to respond to and manage change.
- To be familiar with the concepts and applications of quantitative methods of analysis to production, supply and finance.
- To understand the importance of organisational theory, behaviour, Human Resource Management issues & interpersonal communications to successful business management.
- To provide an understanding of the systemic, integrated nature of organisations and their impact on the development of business policy and strategy.
- To develop participants' ability to communicate clearly in various media, to argue rationally and draw conclusions based on a rigorous, analytical and critical approach to data

Teaching and Learning Resources
Courses are taught in our excellent Graduate and CPD centre, which provides first rate classroom and social facilities particularly designed for part-time students who may be coming to study after work. Classes are taught by academics with a long track record of working with part-time students and who bring in leading industry experts wherever that is possible. The University Library is only a short walk from the Graduate and CPD centre and therefore very easy to access either before or after class and at weekends.

Entry requirements
You will normally be expected to hold a first degree, or equivalent, in a science or management based subject, athough applications are welcomed from mature students with relevant work experience.
Course content
This course has been designed with the industrial part-time delegate in mind, indeed we talked with our partners when developed the material. Each course consists of 8 taught modules, study skills, research methods and a project. The modules are studied in ablock mode, one module at a time. This means that you focus on one subject and complete it before moving on to the next.
Attendance can be part-time day, or part-time evening, with 35 hours (MSc) contact time in total pre module. The evening modules are delivered only to part-time delgates which gives great opportunity to share experiences and network between other industries.
Part-time day attendance: 2 week delivery with a total of ten 1/2 day lecture sessions per module
Part-time evening attendance: 2 evenings per week, 6 weeks per module
You will normally study for 3 years with an optional exit point at the end of each year.

Year 2, 4 modules
Year 3, An individual industry based project
A study skills and research methods module is taught throughout the programme.

- Principles of marketing (day and evening mode)
- Human resource management (day and evening mode)
- Entrepreneurship and innovation for engineers (day mode)
- Supply chain management (day and evening mode)
- Sustainability and environmental management systems (day and evening mode)
- Engineering strategic management (day mode)
- Project management (day and evening mode
In addition the student must satisfactorily complete an individual project.
