Automotive Engineering MSc/PgDip degree
In the modern world of vehicle design and manufacture companies require engineers who are highly qualified and possess very specialised skills. Engineers working in the Automotive industry may be employed by a major vehicle manufacturer, its supply chain or one of the many consulting firms providing design, analysis and testing services. Rapid advances in vehicle technology over recent years have been driven by a demanding worldwide marketplace. The main requirement, for a competitive manufacturer, has been to develop vehicles that are economic, have high levels of refinement and performance and provide advanced additional features.
Developing vehicles to this standard requires extensive computer based engineering design and analysis, supported later in the vehicle development cycle by rigorous testing and measurement of performance. The course proposed here not only addresses the overall design of a vehicle but will also introduce participants to various specialised areas of Automotive Engineering.
Postgraduate engineering courses have also been developed jointly between MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, India and Coventry University. The curriculum has been developed as per Coventry University rules and regulations and complies with QAA standards. Coventry University confers the MSc Automotive Engineering degree to successful candidates. MSRSAS also conducts PhD degrees with Coventry University. The research programme is in the areas of mechanical, electronics and engineering related management.
The course aims are:
- To prepeare partcipants for productive careers as Automotive Engineering specialists in a wide range of engineering, manufacturing, and services organisations.
- To develop skills and expertise in the technologies involved in Automotive Engineering.
- To develop particular expertise in adopting an integreated mulitidisciplinary approach to engineering projects in the Automotive Engineering sphere of influence.
- To achieve a better understanding of system design methodologies required when working under an Automotive Engineering philosophy.
- To provide the opportunity to practise skills in Automotive Engineering through the application to real engineering projects undertaken in conjuction with industry or research groups.
