International Human Resource Management MBA

The International Human Resource Management Masters in Business Administration (MBA) has been designed to prepare students for successful careers in the strategic management and development of people in the complex and fast-changing environment of the contemporary workplace.

Coventry University London Campus has worked with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to map selected modules on this programme to the CMI syllabus. As a result of this, students who pass two specific modules on their way to achieving the full qualification can be awarded the CMI Certificate Level 7 Strategic Management and Leadership*. The CMI is the UK awarding body for management and leadership qualifications. It is the only chartered professional body dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. It counts more than 100,000 members and is internationally recognised as the professional body that set the standards in management.

The MBA International Human Resource Management has been developed to provide graduates with the opportunity to acquire high level expertise in strategic business, and commercial competencies needed for an international context.

The learning and assessment of the International Human Resource Management MBA reflect an action learning approach and is focused upon team work, business simulations and real-world projects, all of which are underpinned by analysis and synthesis.

Programme Structure

All MBA students study five core management modules, four mandatory modules and an internship or project.

International Human Resource Management Modules include:

  • Sustainable Strategy: from Planning to Implementation
  • Marketing in a Global Age; Employability and Consulting Skills
  • Leading in a Changing World
  • Finance, Funding and Legislative Frameworks for Success
  • Business and Management Research Methods or Entrepreneurship: Creating a Business Opportunity
  • Global Human Resource Management Strategies
  • International Organisational Development; Developing People
  • Resourcing and Talent Management
  • Internship, Simulation, Entrepreneurship or Dissertation


  • Each module is delivered weekly over a 10 week period. Each weekly delivery consists of a one hour Knowledgecast session, a one hour seminar session and a two hour group activity session;
  • Students will be supported by a module coordinator and industry experts;
  • Regular consultations during the final project;
  • Peer interaction and collaboration via Coventry University’s online learning platform.


  • Through a mixture of seminar and workshop activities, debates, presentations and written assignments, individual and group programme work.
  • With all of our assessments our aim is to encourage students to be in a position to demonstrate subject knowledge and develop professional skills such as professional report writing, structuring a logical argument, analysing data or making a compelling presentation.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted for the programme students must possess a second class honours degree (2:2) or above.

English Language IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

No work experience required.

Students will emerge from our MBA Human Resource Management with well-developed powers of analysis, clear perspectives on strategy and strategic thinking, and highly effective communication and research skills. All of which are demanded by employers in private, public, and third sector organisations around the world.

Studying at the London Campus has given me the confidence to further my studies at the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. I plan to apply for a PhD to further my knowledge of

Human Resource Management and in so doing, contribute to industry both in Nigeria and elsewhere in the world.

Work experience on the MBA programme can be undertaken in a variety of ways;

  • Any mandatory UK site visits and trips;
  • 1,000 sides of black and white laser prints;

Additional costs not included in the fees:

You may have the opportunity to participate in non-mandatory field trips in the UK and abroad. These visits are not included in the programme fee and prices will vary depending on the location of the trip.

Student profile: Beverly Darko, Ghana

Beverly DarkoIn the fourth term of my MBA, I undertook an internship in the Human Resources department of a student housing association. During my internship, I worked on a management report (my main project) as well as carrying out a range of office-based tasks and meeting with stakeholders. I believe that the internship opportunity offered at Coventry University London Campus is extremely beneficial. Working in an office environment and interacting with the employees on a daily basis helped me develop professional skills that cannot be taught using theoretical assignments or by observing an organisation from the outside.

My management report centred on the company attaining accreditation from Investor in People and Sunday Times Companies. The main goal was to find out and recommend what the organisation needed to do to gain the accreditation.

The internship has been a great learning experience. I worked on two projects simultaneously because the company wanted to get accreditation from two different professional bodies. The projects have helped me put into practice what I had learnt in the classroom. The entire business environment created at Coventry University London Campus involves working in diverse teams, with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Moreover, the practical assignments at the London Campus (management reports, case studies, presentations, debates, etc.) really helped me prepare for my internship. I was almost done with my research project by the eighth week because I was so used to collecting data, doing practical research and working both in teams and independently. I think that the theoretical and practical components of my MBA have really prepared me for future employment.
