GE Aviation is the world's leading producer of large and small jet engines for commercial and military aircraft. For some of the learners, this is their first job after leaving school.
“CU Coventry is our chosen educational provider for the Business Leadership Higher Apprenticeship.
We have developed a partnership that has enhanced the quality of academic and in job learning. We work with programme leaders and lecturers to design a program which embeds G.E cultural requirements with current best practice. This has enhanced the learning of our students as they can see the link between theory and the real world.
The benefits for the business can be seen on a daily basis as our students work in key roles on critical business projects generating savings, improving our performance and ensuring we are equipped for future growth.
We find that CUC is continuously improving the quality of programmes and the responsiveness of its services.
In May 2015 GE Aviation won the Learning and Development Award at the Gloucestershire Business Awards. In addition our apprentices have won regional awards enhancing the brand of our business and making us an employer of choice. We ensure we showcase our relationship with CUC as it is critical to the success of our programmes.
Our programmes have captured the imagination of Global GE Leaders who are impressed with the impact our apprentices have within the business.”

We have had an engaging, interesting and enlightening time on the course, and we have had the best support as well as the most outstanding communication experienced previously in our education. I have never felt worried about receiving feedback or support from my tutor, and I am aware that even outside of business hours should I need some clarification I won’t have to wait long for an answer/reply.

West Midlands Fire Service
West Midlands Fire Service is the metropolitan fire and rescue service which serves the West Midlands. Most of the students are operational watch commanders and station commanders, with some non-uniform staff from support functions.
“Where do I start? I have learnt so much and this programme has inspired me to continue with my development and academic learning. This direct learning from the course has been applied in my everyday job functions but also assisted me in a promotion. This promotion has been the first of its kind to a non- operational fire fighter so I see myself as a little revolutionary. My confidence has grown immensely and I have now got experiences in areas that would never have been possible without undertaking this leadership degree.”

“The tutors are always engaging and promote discussions between the learners. The one-to-one sessions were extremely beneficial to my development and learning. I would also say that all my telephone calls/emails were responded to in a very timely manner.”

Chubb is a brand of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), an American owned global company which specialises in security products and services. Many learners have been at Chubb for their whole working lives, and have progressed through the company to their current roles: operations managers, general managers and areas sales managers. They are studying for a Foundation degree.
“I am currently in the role of area sales manager and the course has increased my overall understanding of the business and will enable me to progress through promotion using the skills I have learned on the course.”
“I have opened up my mind to how I manage daily. I think more about positive change implementation within my team and my communications skills have vastly improved. Being one of the few junior managers on the programme I now have confidence to present to all senior management levels as well as question decisions by using factual data to support me.”
