Coventry University College student rewarded with promotion after obtaining first class honours in Management and Leadership degree.

Katie Bye completed her Management and Leadership BA (Hons) degree with first class honours, this in turn then helped her gain a promotion from Duty Manager to Deputy General Manager. Katie now oversees several key areas of Nuffield Health Centre in Leamington Spa.

Nuffield Health is an industry leader in the health sector. More specifically Nuffield as an organisation focuses on; hospitals, health clinics, fitness & wellbeing gyms, diagnostic units and a wide range of treatments, combining them into one complete health and wellbeing service.  This is done through Nuffield Health’s use of expertise, support and encouragement to connect the three main elements of health together, which includes; prevention, assessment and treatment. Nuffield Health’s primary goal is to make the nation healthier.

Katie outlined how the degree benefited her by preparing her for the transition into a more senior management role;

I gained more confidence, extra knowledge and a detailed understanding into management theory and techniques. One of the best things about the course for me was how what I studied was directly relatable to my job, meaning I was able to use what I learnt on the course in the workplace.

Katie went on to discuss how the degree gave her an insight into management and ultimately prepared her for the additional work and responsibilities that came with her new role;

The course was really useful for me, I think I’ve managed to step up and put a lot of theory work into practise in my new role. The course taught me a lot of useful theory, which has given me an understanding into how to manage people; again this is something which is incredibly useful in my new role.

Management and Leadership tutor Bhajan Aulak commented on Katie’s success;

I’m absolutely delighted to see Katie rewarded for her fine work during her time at CUC. She has been a model student who has shown tremendous dedication to her studies. Obtaining a first class degree is a huge achievement and utilising that degree to get a promotion is a great achievement.
