Students and staff at CU Coventry, part of the Coventry University Group, have donated 207 items of food and toiletries to support local people in need. The much-needed items have been donated to Harnall Lifehouse (Salvation Army), who offer shelter to homeless people and are also a food bank distribution centre.

Items included dried foods such as pasta, rice and tinned vegetables, along with essentials like toothbrushes, shower gel. People generously supported the food drive with biscuits, chocolates and toys that will be welcomed during the festive season.

Daze Osuide, Widening Participation Officer at CU Coventry, said:

We all value the role we play in the local community in Coventry and beyond, so staff and students rallied together to contribute to the food drive which will provide emergency food and essentials during Christmas and the New Year.

We are happy to play a small part in helping those in need in our local community. We even received teddy bears that will hopefully find their way to a loving home and share some Christmas joy!
