Regeneration

Welcome to Regeneration at Coventry University

Coventry University has a long history of work in the field of regeneration, and a national and international reputation for work in:
  • Economic development, modernisation and diversification
  • Neighbourhood renewal
  • Social justice and inclusion
  • Urban and rural change
  • Faith communities
  • Young and teenage pregnancy
  • Tourism
  • Training and continuing professional development
Our expertise is grounded in academic, policy, and practitioner approaches to the regeneration of towns, cities, and communities. We work closely with a number of stakeholders to:
  • Advance ideas or debates in key areas
  • Develop area-based policies or strategies
  • Improve the effectiveness of projects or delivery mechanisms
  • Provide new and continuing skills for practitioners

Our Work

Our teaching and research is structured around four key areas of activity: economic development; neighbourhood renewal and social inclusion; urban renewal; and rural and agricultural change.

The diversity of regeneration work we are involved in reflects the breadth of expertise in regeneration at the University, and our interest in improving understanding of the different and complex issues facing many towns and cities in the 21st Century.

Our previous work has included national academic and policy research on social capital and faith communities, regional business support work on the Coventry and Nuneaton Regeneration Zone, and local work on hate crime. We also worked closely with stakeholder organisations to offer professional training for regeneration practitioners at a national and local level, through BURA, the IED, RegenWM, and Advantage West Midlands.
