Learning for Health and Social Care Professionals M07HLS

OVERVIEW

This module is designed for health and social care professionals to explore educational theory and the inter-relationship between theory and practice. The module will focus on the concepts of adult and continuing education in order to enhance health and social care practitioners’ learning and teaching skills for their roles as facilitators of learning and mentors.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

On successful completion of this module you should be able to:

  • Analyse and apply adult learning theory in the context of early professional development.
  • Evaluate learning and teaching strategies within a national context.
  • Analyse the evaluation and assessment principles as well as their application to a range of learning environments.
  • Evaluate the educator’s role within a clinical context.

HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?

This module will be delivered through a combination of different methods, including lectures, workshops, seminars and student-led activities.

Spring term: Thursdays 1pm - 4pm.

Induction will take place on the first day of each module (excluding Mentoring).

  • Coursework 1: Critically analytical case study (3500 words).
  • Coursework 2: Portfolio of evidence.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must have a professional qualification in health or social care.
  • Post-registration experience within the field of health and social care.
