Your studies are underpinned by three core course themes, which are carefully balanced across all years of the course, centred on specific technical knowledge, construction practice and skills development through group project work.
Throughout the three years of study on the BEng course you will cover the principles of civil engineering including: engineering analysis, structural analysis and design, highways and surveying, construction and project management, water and ground engineering.
Additionally, for a sandwich qualification, the course will either provide professional experience in civil or structural engineering, to allow you to place academic knowledge in a practical engineering context, or allow you to study or gain work experience aboard (additional costs and application may apply).
Graduates with a BEng will require ‘further learning’ as defined by the Engineering Council, (e.g. an approved MSc). Alternatively, opportunities to transfer into the MEng Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering course are provided for those BEng students who demonstrate the required academic ability.
