Social enterprises tackle social problems: improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. Money raised from selling good and services in the open market are re-invested back into businesses or the local community.
What is Social Enterprise?
Social enterprises are businesses that tackle social problems: by improving communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. The money raised from selling goods and services in the open market through these businesses, are re-invested back into the businesses or the local community.
Coventry University Social Enterprise offers the university the opportunity to work with existing businesses for economic and social benefit whilst developing students’ staff and alumni enterprise skills. Coventry University has a ready-made environment for developing and nurturing this kind of entrepreneurship, through The Enterprise Hub (to hyperlink and remove this bracketed sentence).
Coventry University Social Enterprise, Community Interest Company’s (CUSE) sole purpose is to champion the social enterprise capacity of all students, staff and alumni at Coventry University. CUSE currently supports 18 social enterprises set up by staff, students and alumni. These span a range of disciplines from fashion to child protection and each is making a successful contribution to society.

Social Enterprise Champions
The University is committed to supporting and promoting Social Enterprise within its own community. To this end, we have appointed Social Enterprise Champions in each faculty to truly embed the ethos and practice of social enterprise across all areas of the University.
If you want to help us to make a difference, you can volunteer to be one of our social enterprise champions. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals, both staff and students, to be spokespeople for social enterprise across the University. Don’t worry though! Even if you don’t know much, or anything, about social enterprise, we will be providing you with the essential information and a bit of guidance about how we’d like you to champion the cause!
