Black History Month 2023
Black History Month (BHM), taking place each October, is a significant focal point that recognises and celebrates the invaluable ongoing contributions of Black people to British society. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.
This year’s theme – Saluting our Sisters – will be dedicated to honouring the achievements of Black women who are often the forgotten heroes. Alongside the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) staff network, Coventry University will be delivering several key events exploring this year’s theme, as well as blogs from staff across the group sharing their personal experiences.

Black History Month 2023 – A Digital Experience
BME Staff Network member and Senior Learning Designer Melissa Coley has helped develop a virtual experience for Black History Month. In the Padlet you’ll find a digital storytelling of the children of the Windrush generation as well as interactive activities celebrating; inventors, women in business, politicians, thought leaders and women in STEM.

Your Students' Union
Your Students’ Union will be hosting a series of events, ranging from quiz nights to book club, throughout October to celebrate Black History Month. These sessions are open to all students at Coventry University's Coventry campus and CU Coventry.
